As a part of CAIDA's mission to promote cooperative macroscopic measurement and analysis of Internet traffic and performance, collection of data for scientific analysis of network function is one of CAIDA's core objectives. CAIDA collects several different data types at geographically and topologically diverse locations, and makes this data available to the research community to the extent possible while preserving the privacy of individuals and organizations who donate data or network access. For questions about CAIDA data, contact data-info@caida.org.

To keep up to date on CAIDA datasets you can subscribe to data-announce@caida.org.

Realtime Passive Monitors

Network Telescope Observation StationMonitor

The UCSD Network Telescope Observation Station provides a continuous view of the anomalous, unsolicited traffic reaching a /8 network. This traffic includes the backscatter from denial-of-service attacks, the spread of Internet worms and other anomalous traffic, and manual and automated scans aimed at compromising machines. While information is collected in real time, the public view of the Telescope traffic is time delayed by 24 hours.

Miami FIU-AMPATH MonitorMonitor

This passive network monitor displays traffic from an OC12 link that connects Florida International University, the AMPATH International Exchange Point, and Internet2 in Miami, Florida, USA. Report data collection for this link began on February 21, 2007.

SDNAPMonitor

The San Diego Network Access Point (SDNAP) serves as a peering point for various Organizations and Internet Service Providers in the San Diego area. The SDNAP realtime monitor characterizes the traffic at the exchange. Reports show the most recent two years of data on that link.
