Maybe you can't compile on FreeBSD 4.1, because you need a newer
compiler. Here on 4.2-STABLE it compiles like a charm...
g++ -v:
Using builtin specs.
gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
Additionally: try using standard CFLAGS first, so not redefine them
in /etc/make.conf
