Hi Rui,
I found the difference. The 2.4 kernel allows you to set the
parameters dynamically (eg. RH7.2). The 2.2 kernel (as shipped with
RH6.2 for example) does not. To set the parameters for the 2.2 kernel
it's necessary to edit a file, probably called
/usr/src/linux/include/asm/shmparam.h and rebuild the kernel.
