Background
Chiara is currently working at CAIDA under the supervision of Dr. Dmitri Krioukov. She is also a a Ph.D. student in Information Engineering under the supervision of Eng. Enrico Gregori (Institute of Informatics and Telematics of CNR, Pisa) and Prof. Luciano Lenzini (Department of Information Engineering, University of Pisa). She started studying Internet topologies at the AS level of abstraction in March 2009 during her Master Degree thesis. She focused on the analysis of the properties of the Internet graph in different geographical regions with particular attention at the role of public peering (i.e. peering at IXPs). Her research interests focus primarily on the study of the structural characteristics of the Internet topology by means of community detection algorithms: k-core decomposition, k-dense method and k-clique percolation method. From October 2011 to April 2012 she joined CAIDA as a visiting-grad working on dk-graphs under the supervision of Dr. Dmitri Krioukov. Then, she joined CAIDA again in October 2012 in order to continue her work on dk-analysis. Chiara is going defend her PhD thesis "A Structural Analysis of the Internet AS-level topology" on June 2013.
