Redesign and extension of multi-agency interconnection point

In its role to support the NREN effort, the NSF has asked the NEG Engineering Group (NEG) to draft a document describing the potential redesign and architectural extension of one of the interconnection points for national US agency networking activities. This document addressed in particular FIX-East, located near the University of Maryland, but we hope the issues and suggestions are applied to the larger NREN community, in particular in the context of generic access instrumentation for the Internet.
