Successful interns may be later re-hired as postdocs. </p> <p> To apply, send a cover letter (including a brief description of interests and skills) and CV to <a href="mailto:jobs+net.interns@caida.org">jobs+net.interns@caida.org</a> </p> <h3>Postdoctoral positions</h3> <p><strong>Job Description:</strong><br> Two postdoctoral research positions in complex networks/network science are available in the Krioukov group at the Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).</p> <p>The first position is on theoretical aspects of complex networks and their geometry. The successful candidate will focus on the development of geometric methods and approaches to the analysis of network structure, dynamics, and transport processes. Exceptional analytic skills and strong mathematical background are required.</p> <p>The second opening is a joint position with the Greenspan Lab at the Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind (KIBM) at UCSD. The successful candidate will focus on the analysis of biological networks, such as metabolic, gene regulation, protein interaction, and brain networks. Previous extensive experience in working with massive biological datasets is required.</p> <p>In both cases, experience in working with real-world network data and advanced analytic and programming/simulation skills are required. The positions support interdisciplinary projects between physics/mathematics, genetics/neuroscience, and computer science/engineering. The successful candidates will process and analyze massive datasets of real networks, perform intensive simulations, and carry out involved analytic calculations. To get a better idea about typical tasks, please see the test assignments below.
