Animation of 2005 Insight Race Across America (RAAM) race. Since we only have the timestation information from raceacrossamerica.org, we don't know how far a rider has gotten beyond the last timestation they hit. Between timestations, we treat each rider as moving at their average speed between those stations. This is why riders seem to all pile up at time stations near the end of the animation.
The playback speed of the GIF version seems to vary greatly from machine to machine and browser to browser (runs very slow in some versions of IE). The Java Applet version should run smoothly in all browsers with java support. If it doesn't work for you, let us know what browser (IE, Mozilla/Firefox, Safari, etc.) and what version of that browser you are using.
| Java Applet Version | Color Map GIF Version | Plain Map GIF Version (default) |
| Better playback and more features coming | Satellite map background; use if you don't have java or something breaks | Plain map background; use if you don't have java and satellite map is too slow |
Solo riders are circles. Teams are squares.
The legend is sorted by rider position in the race, with the leading rider in each category listed first. For further details about rider position, see the RAAM rider position webpage.
