During his time at CAIDA, Gautam was a PhD Candidate at UC San Diego in the CSE Department. He was advised by Geoffrey Voelker and Stefan Savage, and also collaborated on many projects with KC Claffy and others at CAIDA.
Gautam completed his PhD. in 2022 and went on to be a postdoc at Stanford University.

Gautam primarily worked on the intersection of security and large scale network measurements. Previously, Gautam worked on a range of things right from mobile computing, kernels, to next generation storage systems.
Gautam was with CAIDA until January 2022.
