General discussion: future directions of DNS research and collaboration
- automated day-to-day comparisons of DNS RTTs at several metering sites might provide a way to observe how stable the anycast root servers are (by spotting changes from one anycast server to another).
- is it possible to decide whether a DNS request is to a top-level, second-level, etc. nameserver, by observing the sequence of DNS requests issued by a local cacheing nameserver? This would be a hard problem to solve, but the solution would facilitate metering ccTLD servers in NeTraMet.
- can we get the WIDE NeTraMet meter(s) to post their data on the CAIDA web site? How could we make the DNS RTT web pages more useful?
- update on IPv6 query type spikes seen at F-root.
11:00-11:30 break
